CREATING THE BEST CONTENTS FOR ITS READERS
THE BOOK COMPANY was established in 2004 as the brainchild of three founders who were editors-in-chief representing some of Korea’s leading magazines.
The same year, THE BOOK COMPANY published the first edition of <Singles>, an lifestyle magazine for single woman. Since then, <Singles> has achieved an annual growth rate of 200% or more. This success set the foundation for the company’s joint venture partnership in 2007 with MCA, a prominent French magazine company, and the decision to publish the leading French fashion magazine <Marie Claire> and the lifestyle magazine <Maison>.
The company’s progress continued in 2011, when it launched <Beautypl>, Korea’s first ever beauty magazine combining web and social media. In 2012, it began publishing <GEEK>, a style magazine for men, as well as <Avenuel>, an MVG magazine for Lotte Department Store, and acquired <JubuSaenghwal>, a magazine with a strong readership base among women in their 30s and 40s.
THE BOOK COMPANY has now become one of the top three magazine companies in Korea. THE BOOK COMPANY launched its advertising agency <REDSHOES> in 2008 and <TreVision> in 2010, a digital signage platform targeted at the premium top 5% in the market. In order to commit itself to providing high-quality publication and content, THE BOOK COMPANY’s portfolio expanded to include <MOTHER.CO> (an online shopping mall launched in 2015) and a digital marketing company <THE BOOK DIGITAL>. THE BOOK COMPANY is ensuring its image as a premier media company, currently operating 8 provocative magazines, 5 sites, 12 authoritative CP magazines, an advertising agency, online shopping mall, and a digital marketing company

The Book Company makes the impossible possible We design a future just for you
In the winter of 2003, everyone warned us of an oncoming second foreign exchange crisis in Korea and cautioned against the recklessness of starting a new business. In the spring of 2004, skeptics claimed that publishing would no longer be a growth industry. They said launching a new magazine was inadvisably risky. Nonetheless, we founded the Book Company in April 2004 and published the first issue of the monthly magazine Singles in August of the same year. Ten years later, as of June 2014, the Book Company boasted an annual average growth rate of 70 percent, having reached KRW 50 billion, or around USD 43 million, in annual sales. This attests to our determination to make the impossible possible while achieving synergistic growth with partner companies and staff members.

Marketing in the 21st century must appeal to the soul by offering meaningful life goals and a clear understanding of corporate values
Our company is already known as l’enfant terrible of the magazine industry, but this is only the beginning of our ambition to create empowering contents.
Contents consistently superior in quality regardless of changes in devices and platforms
the ability to create an infinite universe on a single page We are living in an age of one-person media, meaning that anyone has the potential ability to publish media content. Any literate person can create a blog or register an account in a social networking service and begin offering contents. Even as more and more people gain access to such creative media, however, the contents, magazines and featured productions created by the experts of The Book Company are becoming all the more prized for their value. This is because The Book Company presents magazines and publications brimming with creativity and inventiveness, exclusive contents that are uniquely distinguished from the trite ideas that we often find circulating in the media. The Book Company is built by people equipped with an unparalleled understanding of Korea and of magazines, who will continue to create outstanding content full of dynamic insights even as devices and platforms change.
our ability to pioneer the future by uncovering potential perspectives The greatest strength of The Book Company is our insight, our ability to draw awareness to what remained hidden and propel our readers to the vanguard of the future. Such insights originate from the hard work of our staff, including our two CEOs, who began their careers as newbie journalists and accrued more than three decades of experience in the field, our directors, who also take pride in more than two decades of experience in their professions, and from our team leaders who constantly impress us with their fresh ideas and executive abilities. The Book Company’s insights are also ade possible by our rigorous research and the intense discussions that take place in our meetings. During the idea brainstorming sessions at The Book Company’s meetings, everyone from the CEO to the newest recruits are encouraged to voice their thoughts and everyone’s ideas are deliberated by others with equal respect. The company’s culture of valuing the opinions of all employees and treating even their smallest suggestions with respect sets the foundation for cultivating pioneering insights and discoveries.
